I mentioned in my hot toddy recipe that I have a version of this hot drink without any alcohol and it’s safe to give to my children. Honey and lemon tea is hardly a recipe but it is highly effective for a cold, cough or even sore throat. Today’s post is by no means discouraging you from treating common cold with medicine. If you are in the UK, you would agree with me that you get sent home empty-handed 90% of the time when you go to the hospital or your GP with cold. You are simply told there is no cure for cold and they would also discourage you from using cough syrup as it mostly contains sugar. Because of the above, I don’t go to the GP for cold or cough except I have had it for over a week. I tend to nurse myself back to good health by making this simple lemon honey ginger drink and keep hydrated. It is a great home remedy for a common cold, not only does it require a handful of ingredients, it contains natural ingredients and it is very quick to make too.
